THURSDAY

On Thursday, August 13th, Troubadours of Divine Bliss, a duo from Kentucky, stop by the Vine and Bean on their tour schedule. They met 21 years ago in a spirit-filled, holy rollin’, charismatic church…Renee’s Dad was the Pastor & Aim Me’s Dad was a Deacon.
Renee was hammin’ it up on a Hammond Organ & Aim Me was moonlighting as Faith Bunny…
They were baptized, sanctified & deodorized respectively.
As the Hatfield & Mc Coy’s of the Pentecostal world, Aim Me’s Dad ended up kicking
Renee’s Dad out of the pulpit. They both lost faith in religion & gained faith in the Spirit.
In 1995, the Universe brought them back together with the vision of being Troubadours of Divine Bliss, Street Performers who travel around encouraging Revolution of the Spirit & Courage of the Heart. Renee had a dream she was playing an Accordion, so she got one.
Aim Me learned two chords on the Guitar & Bliss was born.
They followed their destiny to the streets of New Orleans where (wrapped in battery-operated Christmas lights) they debuted as Christmas Carolers in 1995 on the corner of Royal & Toulouse in the Big Easy.

Harmonies Smooth as Kentucky Bourbon, Soft as Spanish Moss

In 1998 they were named “Best New Folk Band” by New Orleans’ Offbeat Magazine.
Through the years they have had the privilege of living the life of true troubadours, traveling the wondrous expanse of America, Europe & Canada. & have been inspired accordingly. Their travels have given them the opportunity to sample a wide variety of tastes, cultures & timely issues that have become the muse for their myriad of musical genres & 4 recordings.

“Their acoustic music with a streak of old-timer flavor appeals to those who like the female camaraderie & harmonies of the Indigo Girls but are looking for something with a bit more weirdness, humor & range…sultry narratives…vaudeville send-ups…luscious covers…Aim Me & Renee move from pathos to flippancy with breathtaking speed.” –Anastasia Pantsios, Plain Dealer

FRIDAY

Featuring members with diverse music backgrounds, Rio Neon is fast becoming noticed for complex and unique vocal harmonies, as well as original compositions, and instrumental diversity.
With repertoire influences from Lambert, Hendrix, and Ross, Celtic traditions, old jazz and swing, old-time music, tin pan alley, blues, and other styles, Rio Neon’s shows are tight and full of fun!

SATURDAY

Brad Walk returns to the Vine and Bean to charm the patio.

Fans do love them some Brad Walk

This acoustic rocker appears with special guest Corrie Haluga.

Brad will play selections from his new release “Tethered and Unfussable” which is a cross between the best acoustic-alternative song you’ve ever heard and the sound of fifty pirates staggering drunkenly into a trash compactor. With some cello.

If you like Eddie Vedder and Elliot Smith, you’ll dig this.

What they say about Naomi:
“Watch her because: She’s going to teach your daughters how to stand proud and sing loud…Equally composed of fearless rock passion she channels as frontwoman and the keenly observational nurturing instinct she developed (in camps)…”
-Perel Skier, PresenTense Magazine

“Naomi Less debut(ed) songs …which use “values-based, pop-rock music” to teach Jewish girls to respect themselves and each other. “Responsibility,” a Britney Spears-esque pop number, talks about the importance of speaking up and not standing idly by while others are hurt.”
-Rebecca Honig Friedman, Jewess

“Enter Naomi Less, the coolest camp counselor you ever had– guitar in hand and the pipes to match. Her music, like her work, is equal parts juicy rock ‘n roll, throbbing, room-enveloping vocals, and perfectly blended messages of empowerment, justice, and education.”
-Jenny Aisenberg, velvet park

Randy Martin is a lead singer and guitar player with Gorilla Danish. He began playing guitar in 1959. In 2003 he was diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and could no longer play bar chords. Rather than quit, he created an open tuning in the key of B. This unusual tuning and key matched his baritone voice. Since 2004, he has been performing as a solo act (Randy Martin: The Lost Classics) perfecting his melody-finger slide finger-picking style and creating arrangements of somewhat forgotten R&B and R&R tunes from the 60s into an interesting presentation made further engaging by the information he delivers about the song writers between tunes. Musicians and non-musicians alike are attracted to his unusual stylings. He plays frequently in his home base of Cleveland and also in Chicago and Milwaukee.
